The Town of Victor Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a hula hooping class for teens and adults on Mondays at 5:15 p.m. starting Jan. 7.
While it might sound like child’s play, hooping is a surprising fitness trend for men and women that burns 450-600 calories per hour in a low- to no-impact full-body workout.
The program, titled "HoopMoves" strengthens the core muscles, builds cardiovascular health, tones arms and legs, tightens the waistline, improves mood and can be used to achieve weight loss goals and as a form of creative expression.
HoopMoves is offered at the Parks and Recreation building, 1290 Blossom Drive, Victor. The cost is $66 for nonresidents and $56 for residents. New students can start at any time (fees will be prorated) and even try the first class for free.
