  • The board of trustees and staff of Penfield Public Library would like to thank the Friends of the Penfield Public Library and their President Mary Maley for making the 2012 Annual Used Book Sale held Sept. 11-15 so successful: $29,000 was raised over the five-day event.
    Special thanks are extended to Book Sale co-chairs Janet Flanagan and Gary Richardson, and their hardworking committee members: Friends Treasurer Ginny Reed, Carole Pepe, Carol Hutner, and Beverly Vaughan, publicity; Diane Robbins, book-sorting; Judy-Ann West, Friends Secretary; Nancy Anstadt, set-up; Cathy Dahler, volunteer recruitment; Diane Meyer, membership chair and clean up; and Maggie Hession, disposal of items.
    In addition to over 100 individual volunteers, thanks go out to staff members Barb Wolf, Wayne Fisher and Pete Hidley. Others very instrumental in the book sale’s success include: Paul Hutner; Ryane Graham; Jim Maley; Murray Tanzman; Pam Whitney; Carolyn Wise; Dan Brocht; Ricky Briggs; Jim Flanagan; George, Jonathan, and Jennifer Anstadt; and Bob Gullo.
    This year special thanks should be extended to Rob Consaul, Penfield varsity coach, for getting the following baseball team members who helped move books on Saturday, Sept. 8: Justin Colon, Matt Wakeman, Jake Pumputis, Mark Tantalo, Garett Berardicurti, Josh Swan, Brian Reed, Jack Taylor, Chad Guche, Sam Murrer, Noah Wulforst, Kyle Straube, Cam Yatteau, Jack DeRue, Matt Hodge, Adam Agostinelli, Justin Harman, Mike Pickett, Tim Stapleton, Colin Spencer, Sam Vercruysse, Will Moran, Garett Eckl, David Fitzsimmons, Jay Walter, Pierce Handly, Ryan Jones, Sam Aebli, Jake Welkley, Kevin Reynolds, Liam and Luke Westervelt, Ben Anderson, Charles Wan, Matt King, Connor Regan, Stephen Wilson, Clay Ziehl, David Nitsch, Trevor Leinenbach, Jacob Rojas, Alex D’Agostino, Nick Nichols, Jesson Wolfe, Sean Parmelee, Zach Buse, Jake Hewitt, Charlie Anders, Chris Reed, Joshua Saunders, Adam Pembroke, Alex Behlois, Ryan Kelbrus, Jordan Solomon, and Mike Martella. Also helping were girls’ basketball team members Margot Hetzke and Lucy Covley, and National Honor Society members Arianna James and Patti Carpenter.
    A great big thank you to local merchants: Family First, Lisa’s Liquor Barn, Mark’s Pizzeria, Tops, Wegmans, and the Summit Federal Credit Union.
    Finally, the library would like to publicly thank all the Penfield residents who joined the Friends organization, donated and purchased materials. Proceeds netted $29,000 and will be used to provide equipment, programs and other enhancements in the Penfield Library that are not covered by the library’s general operating budget.
