  • Track: Victor's Maxwell wins pole vault title

  • The Victor senior clears 13-00 to hold off Canandaigua's Samuel Harding to win the Monroe County Championship at Saturday's meet at Victor. The Greece Olympia boys and Penfield girls earn the team titles.

  • Victor senior Ben Maxwell cleared 13-0 to earn first place in the pole vault and lead area athletes at the Monroe County Championship meet Saturday at Victor.
    Maxwell, who entered as the top seed in the event, held off Canandaigua’s Sam Harding who finished in second place after clearing 12-06. The two will face off again at the Section 5 Class A championship meet Saturday at Penfield.
    The Braves' Christine Lyttle won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.29.
    The Victor boys team finished in 10th place scoring 40 points, two spots ahead of Canandaigua. Greece Olympia won the boys title after scoring 92 points.
    The Canandaigua girls team scored 29 points to finish in 11th place, while Victor scored 25 for 13th. The Penfield girls scored 87 points, seven ahead of second place Rush-Henrietta.
    Senior Zach Noll led the Blue Devil throwers recording second place finishes in the shot put (47-10) and a third in the discus (133-01). Irondeqouit junior Ryan Cribbin finished in first place in both events.
    Canandaigua senior Jarrett Osterhout scored 2,941 points to finish in second place in the boys pentathlon. Brockport senior Aaron McGinnis narrowly held off the field scoring 2,991.
    Victor junior Mary Turner scored 2,384 points to finish in fifth place in the pentathlon. Teammate Sarah Shellard ran a 16.53 in the finals of the 100 hurdles for fourth place.
    Victor’s Zach Simmons cleared 5-10 to finish in sixth place in the high jump.
    CA junior Alijhiah Minor finished in third place in the triple jump (41-11.00). Webster Schroeder freshman Jimmy Shih took home first in the event (44-02.50).
    CA’s Meghan McCormick led the Brave distance runners, earning a second place in the 1500 after finishing in 4:38.15. McCormick and Penfield’s Katie Lembo led for most of the race but were passed in the final straight away by Irondequoit junior Georgia Tuttle.
    Meghan McCormick added a seventh place finish in the 800 (2:23.28). Kathleen McCormick posted a sixth place finish in the 400 (1:02.54) and seventh in the 1500 (4:50.69).
    Junior Zachary Klick earned points in two events for the Braves finishing in fourth in the 110 high hurdles (16.23) and seventh in the 400 hurdles (59.96). Victor freshman Matt Barton scored a point for the Blue Devils when he finished in eighth at the 400 hurdles (1:00.21).
    George Mertens earned the highest finish for the Victor distance runners when he recorded a a fourth place in the 3200 (9:57.66). Luke Shanahan (3200) and Aidan Steiger (1600) also scored points in distance events by finishing in fifth and eighth respectively.
    Sophomore Kate Erickson earned fifth place for the Blue Devils in the 2000 Steeplechase after running a 7:59.02. Junior Maggie Lawler scored three points for Victor by finishing sixth in the 3000 (11:13.53).
