Rush-Henrietta and Churchville-Chili advanced to the finals of the Saints Holiday Tournament at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Scottsville Ice Arena.
The Royal Comets defeated Brighton/ER/HF-L 5-2 and the Saints cruised past Spencerport 12-0 in the opening round games on Thursday. The Barons and Rangers will play in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the Scottsville Ice Arena.
R-H held a 2-1 lead going into the third period, but blew the game open with three goals in the first 2:14 of the period to secure the win. Cory Della Stua pushed the lead to 3-1 with a goal on a tip-in 53 seconds into the third.
Matt Bracy scored 1:06 later to give the Royal Comets a 4-1 lead. R-H rode the momentum to another goal 15 seconds later, as Braden Passmore beat Brighton/ER/HF-L goalie Chris Chilelli for the team’s final goal.
The Barons’ Michael Finestone capped the scoring for the game scoring 4:55 into the third period. Goalie Eric Mcneil earned the win for the Royal Comets, capping the game by stopping a breakway in the final 10 seconds.
R-H gained control of the game quickly as Partridge scored off a pass from Della Stua on a 2-on-1 46 seconds into the first period. The Royal Comets kept the one-goal lead into the second period.
Conner Rotenberg tied the game for Brighton/ER/HF-L when he knocked a backhanded shot top shelf past a diving Mcneil 1:17 into the second period. Della Stua gave the lead back to R-H when he scored on a breakaway 3:33 into the second.
The Royal Comets avenged a 6-1 loss to the Barons on Dec. 19.
Justin Alves led a dominating Churchville win over Spencerport recording six goals and an assist as the Saints completed a regular season sweep of the Rangers.
Alves netted a hat trick in the first period, starting the scoring 8:52 into the game. Ryan Cosgrove gave Churchville a 2-0 lead scoring less than a minute later.
Alves scored two goals 40 seconds apart to give the Saints a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.
Alves scored twice in the second period when Churchville netted five goals. Sam Cammilleri scored two goals while Zach Fodge added another to put the team ahead 9-0.
Alves, Mike Yehl and Kyle Clar scored goals in the third period for the Saints. Kyle Wood made five saves to earn the shutout for Churchville.
