About Dawn

In charge of the strategic development and implementation for investing more than $17 million annually into human service programs in the Rochester community, Dawn also leads the communications and marketing strategies to support a $28.5 million annual fundraising campaign. She joined United Way in  August 2005, after serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Council of Rochester for 11 years. Dawn has taught marketing, business writing, and public relations at Rochester Institute of Technology and St. John Fisher College, and also lectures at local, regional, and national conferences. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Geva Theatre Center.

Background

Dawn has served as a public relations and development director at a rural hospital in Upstate New York, an editor of a weekly newspaper —The Victor Herald, and a freelance consumer-experience researcher and communications strategist and planner. In 2006, she was recognized with the Advertising Council of Rochester's Legacy Award.  In 1995 she was named to the inaugural class of Rochester Business Journal's "Forty Under 40," in recognition of her professional achievements and community service. Dawn also  received the Matrix Award from Women In Communications/Rochester in 1997 for outstanding achievement in the field of communication.

Hobbies and interests

In her spare time Dawn enjoys gardening, reading and antiquing.
