The Sheldon family settled in Farmington in 1832. Floyd was born in 1922 and graduated from Macedon High School in 1938. He ran a 1,000-acre crop farm and raised more than 130 dairy cows in Farmington until he retired 11 years ago at age 78.
Hobbies and interests
He enjoys photography, cribbage and motorcycle riding. Floyd used to do a lot of riding and even added a sidecar to his Honda Goldwing 1500 so his wife could ride. As recently as fall of 2010, his English Lab, Sunny, has taken over the sidecar.
In his own words
“You’ve got to keep active. You can’t retire and just sit down in a rocking chair and do nothing, or you won’t last long. I’ve got my fingers crossed — I hope to live a few more years.”
