About Lindsey
New to running, she just ran her first 5k, along with her husband, the day after her 36th birthday. She’s working on increasing distance now, but still remembers just a few months ago when she’d run then walk a half a mile at a time. Now Lindsey is launching a local chapter of Girls on the Run (www.gotrrochester.org) along with her sister-in-law, Becky Adrid, and friends Colleen Weldgen and Jennifer Samuels. The three will be coaching girls in grades 3-6 in the areas of healthy living, self esteem, and goal-setting twice a week after school over the course of 10 weeks. Their program will culminate with a 5K event — which the girls will run — on June 2 at MCC in Rochester. Lindsey is currently a member of IronWorx Gym and Saint Patrick’s Church in Victor.
Background
Originally from Seneca Falls, Lindsey graduated from Rochester Institute Technology with a degree in American Sign Language Interpreting and later earned a national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She worked full time as a sign language interpreter in a variety of settings for 10 years, until her first child was born in 2006. Now she interprets on a freelance, per diem basis. Lindsey and her husband moved to Farmington six years ago.
Hobbies and interests
In addition to spending time with her family and extended family, Lindsey also loves skiing, watching Syracuse basketball with her husband, working out at IronWorx Gym and taking cardio exercise classes. She’s a member at Mud Creek Farm CSA. Committed to a gluten-free lifestyle for the last 18 months, she says she “feels healthier than she ever has.” She enjoys cooking, being a mom, and “holding down the fort” at home. She believes the Farmington and Victor communities are full of opportunities to meet great people and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, and is grateful this is where she and Steve decided to raise our children.
In her own words
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” — Dr. Suess
