Incumbent - Timothy DeLucia
DISTRICT RESIDENT: 24 Years
EDUCATION: BS, Business Administration - Rochester Institute of Technology
PROFESSION: Not available
YEARS ON THE BOARD: 15 years

Why are you running for the school board and is your unique contribution to the Victor school district?
I am running to support the following goals for VCS: 1) preparing our students to be “world ready” by keeping academic achievement our first priority; 2) maintaining high student achievement - indicators continue to be among the highest; creating budgets that are fiscally responsible while maintaining our high quality academic programs; 3) adopting a budget that reflects student population growth and provides for the highest quality of learning; 4) focused on doing whatever it takes so that children will learn and succeed; 5) making decisions with the best interest of the child in mind

I am currently a member the District Audit Committee, Four County Board of Directors, District Campus Improvement Committee, NYSSBA Federal Relations Network, NYSSBA Legislative Committee, and the Four County School Board Legislative Committee.

How would you characterize the budget challenge faced by VCS currently and what is your outlook for 2010-2013?
A floundering economy and an unpredictable state budget process have made the development of this year’s budget extremely challenging. In addition to reduced state aid revenues, we anticipate our student population to increase again next year and beyond. Therefore, my involvement in state and federal legislative efforts will be important to advocate for our students, to stay close to the state budget process, and to plan within our district.

What do you see as the greatest strength of Victor Central Schools?
The district’s greatest strengths are the people; staff students and the community. All contribute to the commitment to staff development, new teacher support (mentoring), high academic achievement and standards, and cutting edge technology.

What do you see as the area most in need of improvement?
VCS has a reputation as a “destination” district for both families and employment. Therefore the district will continue to grow. Therefore, needs will grow that may include additional space to meet the educational needs of a growing student population.

If you could accomplish one thing done in your tenure on the Board of Education, what would it be and why?
We have successful students that are “world ready” by keeping academic achievement our first priority.

How would you propose dealing with the increased number of special needs children in the district?
I have consistently been an advocate for all children. I set high expectations for myself and for the people with whom I work. I am an analytical thinker and I demonstrate a solid understanding of the principles of both business and education.  This is our responsibility to students at every level.
