Two people were ejected from a motorcycle after trying to avoid hitting a vehicle backing out onto Route 21.
Ontario County Sheriff deputies responded shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a motorcycle crash on Route 21 in South Bristol.
Injured in the crash were James P. Kenney, 56, of Stoney Way in Farmington, and his passenger, Lisa A. Robichaud, 48, of the same address. Both were taken to Thompson Hospital for treatment.
According to deputies, James E. Castle, 39, of County Road 9 in Victor, was backing out from a parking space south of the Sawmill Restaurant in South Bristol.
Kenney was driving a motorcycle north on Route 21 and avoided the vehicle, subsequently crashing the motorcycle. He and Robichaud were both ejected into the southbound lane. They were both taken to Thompson Hospital. Kenney has a possible dislocated or broken shoulder and Robichaud had abrasions and road rash to her right hip and arm, according to the sheriff’s report.
Castle was issued a uniform traffic ticket for unsafe backing up, deputies said.
Naples Fire Department and Naples Ambulance both helped at the scene.
