Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds kicked off the 2017 summer season at CMAC

Whatever the calendar may say, some say summer really starts on Memorial Day weekend. Or the first time they fire up the grill, or hit the beach, or ready the pool. Or when the tourists and seasonal residents hit down in earnest.

Around these parts, though, a sure sign that the summer season is nigh is opening night at CMAC. Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center kicked off its 2017 concert series Saturday with returning favorites Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, presenting not only Dave Matthews Band hits but some surprises, such as Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir."

Dave & Tim were just the start of a season that's heavy on classic rock — including British Invasion heavyweights The Who — with some jazz vocals, country, show tunes and more. Most recently added to the lineup was country singer/songwriter Thomas Rhett, who will take the stage Aug. 30.
