You can reminisce about Locust Lawn, the Veranda and others at a West Bloomfield Historical Society open house.
WEST BLOOMFIELD — An upcoming open house at the West Bloomfield Historical Society will bring back memories of well-loved local restaurants such as Locust Lawn and the Veranda.
The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Society, 8966 Routes 5 and 20. Former employees, customers, and the general public are invited to drop by for an evening of reunion and reminiscing, and a one-night exhibit on eateries of the past.
As visitors recall Locust Lawn hamburgers, the Veranda fish fry, lunch at the Maplehurst or Sweet Solutions, and Ionia’s famous buffalo herd, they will also have a chance to meet descendants of George Ayers, who created a milkshake in the early 1900s that brought people from great distances to West Bloomfield.
