American historian Dan Cody will present “The Rise of the Big Three (Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb)” at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at Legacy at Fairways, 681 High St., Victor.

One of every three workers in Rochester were employed by either Eastman Kodak, Xerox or Bausch & Lomb as recently as the 1980s. The “Big Three,” as they are known, became not only the basis for most of the city and regional economy, but also central to Rochester’s identity.

The three companies, which are known nationally and internationally, dominated their industries to such an extent that they resulted in new works and expressions that are universally recognized.

Registration is required for the free presentation.
