A Rochester man is among a list of 231 people granted clemency by President Obama.

Reuben Bullock was convicted of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute cocaine in October of 2006. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison and six years' supervised release.

However, following President Obama's decision, his sentenced will end on December 19, 2018 -- with the condition that he enrolls in residential drug treatment.

Bullock is among 153 people who had their sentences commuted on Monday. Another 78 were granted pardons.

In a release, a White House spokesperson said, "Today’s acts of clemency – and the mercy the President has shown his 1,324 clemency recipients – exemplify his belief that America is a nation of second chances."
