It won't be terribly snowy on Friday, but one thing crews depend on to keep you safe will not work today.

The Department of Transportation says salt won’t work in the cold temperatures. The DOT has been running plows all night long trying to keep the roadways as clear as possible.

“Our dispatchers are monitoring the highways,” says Lori Maher with the DOT. “They're looking for incidents of any type. If there's a disabled vehicle, if there's an accident. They're able to dispense plow trucks as needed. We're in constant communication with our folks in Monroe County and local law enforcement and 911 and really do a lot behind the scenes to keep the traffic moving.”

Drivers have to slow down Friday morning. There will be plenty of plow trucks out to keep roadways as clear as possible, so make sure you give them some space.
