The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is just past the halfway point, and the organization reminds local shoppers that there is still time to donate.
The community donations collected in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles help feed hungry families, shelter the homeless, provide Christmas food baskets and toys and support essential programs such as Disaster Services, Youth Enrichment and The Salvation Army’s Emergency & Family Services program.
So far this year, more than 30,000 people have received some form of assistance from The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester, and the need is expected to be even greater in the coming year.
This year’s campaign is down more than $35,000 when compared to the total at this same point in time last year. It will continue through 4 p.m. Dec. 24, excluding Sundays, and bell ringer shifts are available to cover stands at many locations throughout the community.
