The Victor High School marching band will compete in the National Class category at the New York State Field Band Conference at 9:18 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University, 900 Irving Ave., Syracuse.
The championship will run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will feature 4,000 students in 51 marching bands competing in six classifications based on school size and past competitive experience. The competition is the culmination of an eight-week season.
Each band will perform a musical and visual show lasting 10 minutes for a panel of 10 judges. The judges will score and rank each band within its class. Each band will receive a plaque, and the highest scoring band will take home the Governor’s Cup. Last year’s champions included Victor, East Syracuse Minoa, Jamestown, Central Square, West Seneca and Roslyn.
The bands will represent nearly every region of the state, along with two bands from Pennsylvania and one from New Jersey. The University at Buffalo and Syracuse University marching bands will perform.
Tickets cost $18 for adults, $12 for seniors ages 65 and older and $12 for students ages 18 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the Carrier Dome Ticket Office on the day of the event. For more information, visit nysfbc.org.
