Cobblestone Arts Center Director Lorene Benson ​was recognized by the American Legion in Canandaigua for Cobblestone's annual creation of a soldiers memorial.

FARMINGTON — Cobblestone Arts Center Director Lorene Benson ​was recognized by the American Legion Post 256 in Canandaigua for Cobblestone's annual creation of a soldiers memorial.

The brick and flag memorial is constructed every May in front of the Arts Center at 1622 Rt. 332, and stays up through mid-July. It honors by name every New York state soldier who gave their life in Iraq and Afghanistan. 

Benson, who applauds the patriotism demonstrated by these soldiers, received​ the Red, White and Blue Award for communicating by personal example the principles on which the United States was founded.
