BOYS BASKETBALL

FINGER LAKES

Newark 46,
Waterloo 43

Trailing 33-31 to start the fourth quarter, Newark outscored Waterloo 15-10 in the final eight minutes to earn the comeback win.
Jacob Shear knocked down four free throws down the stretch to help get the win.
Josh Williams led the Newark offense with 14 points and 10 rebounds. David Stone had nine points and   
11 rebounds while Shear finished with seven.
Brandon Frank tallied a game-high 21 points for Waterloo (3-10). Tim Young chipped in 13 points.

Mynderse 65,
Penn Yan 38

Dylan Verkey poured in 28 points to lead Mynderse to a victory over Penn Yan.
The Blue Devils used a 26-12 run in the second quarter to gain control of the contest.
Emre Gosku added 15 points as Mynderse improved to 14-1. The team is ranked No. 6 in the state in Class B in the most recent poll.
Shane Bloom recorded 12 points for Penn Yan (3-11). Dylan Yonts chipped in 11.

Pal-Mac 70,
Midlakes 63

Pal-Mac Cody Argus drained seven 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points to lead Pal-Mac to a win over Midlakes.
Derek Wager finished just behind Argus with 25 points to help the Red Raiders improve to 10-5.
Ricardo Thomas scored 16 points to pace Midlakes (5-10). Tyler Fisher had 15 points and nine rebounds, while Mason Jones and Dakota Norrison both finished with 12 points.

Geneva 66,
Marcus Whitman 45

Geneva defeated Marcus Whitman in boys basketball, using an 18-7 run in the third quarter to gain control of the game.
Shane Sweeney netted a game-high 21 points to lead the Panthers. Terell Johnson had 11 points, Daniel Hickey scored nine and Jordan Donahue chipped in eight.
For Marcus Whitman, Daniel Clark scored 11 points, Daniel Wickham had 10 and Josh Eskind and Tyler Rohrback each finished with eight.

MONROE COUNTY

Fairport 52,
Irondequoit 51

Alex Doche drilled a 3-pointer with 5.5 seconds left in the game to lift Fairport to a victory over Irondequoit.
The bucket was the only field goal for the Red Raiders in the fourth quarter.
Joe Masino led the Fairport offense with 12 points. Brian Sortino scored 11 points and Doche added 10.
Nick Doktor led Irondequoit (5-10) with 20 points. Wyatt Smith chipped in 11.

Greece Athena 72,
Gates Chili 66

Freshman Jay Sarkis scored a career-high 23 points and added 13 assists for Greece Athena as the Trojans defeated Gates Chili, 72-66.
Alex Spitale finished with 19 points while Deion Hamilton and Nick Saurini each added 11.
Deyshonne Much had a game-high 28 points to lead Gates Chili (8-7). Jawaun Brumfield added 11 points while Michael Lacey finished with 10.
Greece Athena evens its record at 7-7.

Pat Keenehan and Steven Klimek each finished with 14 points while Jimmie Eddington chipped in 12.
Brinson Blocker led Brockport (5-9) with 20 points. Sean Kemp had 15 points while Tyler Brechue and  Markell Collins each scored nine.

Pittsford Sutherland 48,
HF-L 46

The Pittsford Sutherland boys girls basketball team improved to 11-4 with a win over HF-L.
Ben Check knocked down two free throws with 14 seconds left in the game to give the Knights a 48-44 advantage. Check finished with 23 points while Alex Bucella added 13.
Dylan Swetman collected 12 points for HF-L (8-6), while Jake Apthorpe and Nate Less both finished with 10.

Hilton 55,
Churchville-Chili 38

Jahleek Stevenson finished with a career-high 11 points for Hilton in a 55-38 win over Churchville-Chili.
Nadale Fowlks had 18 points to help the Cadets improve to 11-4.
Rashad Richardson paced Churchville-Chili (1-13) with 11 points.

Brighton 62,
Greece Odyssey 42

Brighton improved to 5-9 with a win over Greece Odyssey.
Phillip Pelligrino led the Leopards with 18 points. Doug Aldridge added 13 points and Paul Lisborg chipped in nine.
Jacob Dixon scored 17 points for Greece Odyssey (4-12).

Greece Olympia 61,
Spencerport 56

Jalen Moore scored 17 points to lead Greece Olympia to a victory over Spencerport.
The Spartans used a triangle-and-two defense on Spencerport's leading scorers Hand Wedow and Jerame' Owens, holding them to 12 points combined.
Nate Smith added 15 points for Greece Olympia while Jake DiLallo chipped in 12.
Jake O'Connell had a game-high 23 points to lead Spencerport (7-8), with Devon Pascoe chipping in 10.

Webster Thomas 79,
Victor 68

Webster Thomas defeated Victor, 79-68, to improve to 9-7.
Tyler Carges led the Titans with 29 points, including 18 in the second half and 10 for 10 from the free throw line.
Spenser Thomas added 22 points and Conor O'Grady finished with 10.
Mitch Ford tallied 28 points for Victor. T.J. DiSanto collected 15 points and John Maloney added 12.
The win marked the 800th for Webster Thomas while under the combined guidance of Bill O'Rourke Sr. and Bill O'Rourke Jr.

Eastridge 65,
Batavia 37

The Eastridge boys basketball team got a victory over Batavia to improve to 9-7 on the season.
Supreme Hannah notched 20 points to lead the Lancers, including four 3-point field goals. Shawmik Johnson helped out with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Jalen Smith scored 20 points for Batavia (9-5). Jamesson Etienne finished with a 12 points/14 rebound double-double.

ROCHESTER CITY

East 82,
Edison 57

Torrence Dyck recorded 23 points, 15 rebounds and four steals to lead East to a win over Edison on Friday.
Dontay Caruthers had 17 points and 14 assists, Chaquan Wilburn scored 13 points, Darryl Brown finished with 11 points and Dimitri Campbell added 10 points as the Orientals improved to 14-1 on the season.
Roderick Jones scored 11 points for Edison (6-8) while Raashid Taggart added nine.
East entered the game ranked No. 17 in the state in Class AA in the most recent poll.

Franklin 75,
Wilson 65

On'Darious Hamlin totaled 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead Franklin to a victory over Wilson.
Kenji Smith had 17 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Quakers improved to 13-2.
For Wilson, John Lightfoot had 18 points, Jevis White scored 14 points, Troy Frierson had 11 points and Nelson Riddle added 10.
Franklin entered the game ranked No. 4 in the state in Class A in the most recent poll.

Charlotte 81,
School of the Arts 57

The Charlotte boys basketball team improved to 10-4 with a win over School of the Arts.
Kievonn Banks led the Lakesiders with 22 points and seven steals. George Shoat scored 19 points and LaBronze Mays added 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Cam Smith finished with a game-high 25 points to lead School of the Arts. Jezia Anderson and Manny Sierra each chipped in 12 points.

McQuaid 57,
Marshall 42

McQuaid moved its season mark to 7-8 with a victory over Marshall on Friday.
Charlie Zaepfel recorded 18 points and five assists to lead McQuaid. Zach Ayers added 16 points and Sam Palermo had 12.
Damien Jones notched 12 points to lead Marshall.

Freddie Thomas 76,
NE/NW Prep 57,

Freddie Thomas defeated NE/NW Prep on Friday, led by a career-high 21 points from Josh Chavez.
Devonte Mays added 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals to help the Titans run their season record to 9-6.
Sharrod Dean finished with 15 points to lead NE/NW Prep (2-13). Torry Wright had 13 points while Demetrius Petway and Chad Thomas each chipped in 10.

Jefferson 81,
Monroe 40

Joe Gray filled up the stat sheet for Jefferson as he finished with 33 points, 15 rebounds and five steals in a win over Monroe.
Rashad Stanin had 16 points and nine rebounds, Mike McCloud had 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Carey Bell added 13 points to help the Jaguars improve to 7-7 on the season.
Trayvon Holt finished with 18 points to pace Monroe (2-13). Chaka Williams chipped in 10 points.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY

Avon 64,
Warsaw 48

The Avon boys basketball team defeated Warsaw on Friday, 64-48.
The Braves opened the game on a 19-2 run.
Tyler Hite led the Avon offense with 17 points. Zachary Mouw had 16 points, Brandon Fuentes finished with 15 points and six steals and Zachary Pumputis added 12 points to help the team improve to 8-6, 5-3 in league play.
Harry Lambert finished with 15 points to lead Warsaw (4-12). Drew Borwoski had seven points, while Dan DeGraff, Joe Neeley and Jory Piontkowski each scored six.

Hornell 66,
Dansville 51

The Hornell boys basketball team defeated Dansville behind 28 points from Julian Reinhart.
The Red Raiders used a 22-12 run in the fourth quarter to secure the win, including 17 of 22 from the free throw line.
Brendan Buisch added 13 points while Dom Scavo had 11.
Mitchell Lamerson scored 24 points for Dansville (5-9), including five 3-point field goals. Geoffrey VanDunk chipped in seven points and nine rebounds.

Wayland-Cohocton 55,
Bath-Haverling 46

The Wayland-Cohocton boys basketball team, ranked No. 16 in the state in Class B in the most recent poll, defeated Bath-Haverling to improve to 13-2, 6-1 in league play.
Cody Oas scored 11 points to lead the Eagles, followed by Dean Bembower with 10.
Will Smith had a game-high 14 points for Bath-Haverling. Eric Ratchford and Daniel Leonard both added 11 points.

York 57,
Mount Morris 50

York ran its season record to 14-3 with a win over Mount Morris.
Nick Curry paced the Golden Knights with 17 points, while Matt Graves chipped in 12.
For Mount Morris (7-8), Brad Ferraro had a game-high 20 points while Ben Chesnes finished with an 11 point/10 rebound double-double.

PRIVATE-PAROCHIAL

C.G. Finney 70,
Northstar Christian 60

C.G. Finney's Constant Beaty finished with 19 points to lead the Falcons over Northstar Christian.
Justin Garnier scored 18 points while Otis Brown and Chris Davidson both had 12. Brown added 15 rebounds.
For Northstar Christian (10-6), Nick Mini collected 16 points and 20 rebounds. Victor Boler had 14 points and Tanner Harris added 10.

Lima Christian 49
Webster Christian 32

Robert Schmidt led the Lima Christian offense with 21 points in a victory over Webster Christian.
John Merle chipped in nine points to help the Saints improve to 5-13.
Elijah Fletcher had 15 points to lead Webster Christian (6-8), followed by Nick O'Dell with eight.

NON-LEAGUE

Henninger 50,
Bishop Kearney 42

The Bishop Kearney boys basketball team fell to Henninger to drop to 10-5 on the season.
Alvin English scored 13 points to lead Bishop Kearney. Chinonso Obokoh added 10 points and 10 rebounds while Redell Freeman had nine points and nine rebounds.

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Canandaigua 97,
McQuaid 87

Alex Brion (100 backstroke, 200 freestyle) and Nicholas Ringhoff (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) were double event winners for Canandaigua in a win over McQuaid. Dan Krueger placed first in the 100 breaststroke while the team also won the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay.
For McQuaid, Kevin Tobey (100 butterfly, 200 IM) and Patrick Alvermann (500 freestyle, diving) were double event winners.

HOCKEY

Canandaigua 3,
Victor 0

The Canandaigua hockey team ran its record to 10-3-3-1 with a shutout win over Victor.
D.J. Goldstein had two goals to lead the Braves, one coming on an empty net near the end of the third period. Ethan DiCicco added a goal to round out the scoring, with Connor Guay picking up a pair of assists.
Doyle Kinnear recorded 12 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FINGER LAKES

Midlakes 46,
Pal-Mac 45

Sydney Jones knocked down a pair of free throws with five seconds left in the game to lift Midlakes to a win over Pal-Mac.
The free throws came four seconds after Pal-Mac's Courtney Ameele drained a 3-pointer to give the Red Raiders a 45-44 lead.
Allison Clements scored 12 points to lead the Screaming Eagles. Jones finished with 11 points while Jennifer Goodman had nine.
Vanderwall finished with 15 points to lead Pal-Mac (10-6). Kelsi Nau added 12 points.
Midlakes improves to 6-10.

H-AC 52,
Bloomfield 24

After falling behind 10-9 after the first quarter, H-AC rallied to outscore Bloomfield 43-14 over the final three quarters to get the win.
Jenny Scudder and Kalyi O'Keefe both finished with 17 points to lead the Wolves.
Annie Collins had 14 points for Bloomfield, including 6 for 6 from the charity stripe.

Honeoye 47,
DeSales 26

The Honeoye girls basketball team improved to 6-8 with a victory over DeSales on Friday.
Tori Gamrod scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs. Breanna Bugbee had eight points and Taylor Pestle added seven.
Erica DiDuro, Ann Erdle, Katherine Erdle, Morgan Pentycofe and Ronisha Rooks all had four points to lead DeSales.

Red Jacket 58,
Naples 30

Chelsea Jacobs finished with 16 points and three steals to lead Red Jacket to a win over visiting Naples.
Bailey Hixson had 13 points and Danielle Ogrodowski chipped in eight points and eight rebounds to help the Indians improve to 12-3 on the season.
Kayla VandeSande scored 14 points to lead Marcus Whitman, followed by Paige Hobart with nine.

Geneva 54,
Marcus Whitman 35

Vivian Parks tallied 13 points and six rebounds to lead Geneva to a victory over Marcus Whitman.
Ashley Braman scored 11 points and Courtney Franceschi added eight points, five rebounds and four steals to help Geneva improve to 12-3.
Hannah Green collected a game-high 16 points for Marcus Whitman.

WAYNE COUNTY

Lyons 59,
North Rose-Wolcott 35

Abbie Shields tallied 14 points, seven rebounds and seven steals to lead Lyons to a win over North Rose-Wolcott.
Ryenn Smith had 12 points, six rebounds and four steals, Ja'Teria Wells scored 12 points and Taylor DiSanto added 11 as the Lions improved to 15-1 on the season.
Katiee Snell recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Rose-Wolcott (5-12) while Heidi Poole added 12.

Williamson 43,
Clyde-Savannah 36

The Williamson girls basketball team defeated Clyde-Savannah to improve to 5-10 on the season.
Carly Bean finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and seven steals to lead the Marauders. Monica Brennan added 19 points, including 10 in the third quarter.
Alaina Tripp recorded a game-high 21 points to lead Clyde-Savannah.

Marion 55,
Sodus 25

Marion improved to 9-6 with a victory over Sodus.
Jessa Blondell led the Black Knights with 25 points. McKenzie Beltrone chipped in 15 points.
Hannah Prutzman collected seven points and five steals to lead Sodus.

MONROE COUNTY

Webster Schroeder 35,
Canandaigua 34

Laura Babocsi grabbed an offensive rebound and converted a layup with 12 seconds left in the game to lift Webster Schroeder to a win over visiting Canandaigua.
Brooke Ervin had eight points and 13 rebounds to lead the Warriors. Alexa Antetomaso added four points, four rebounds and five blocks to help Schroeder improve to 7-8.
Mara Sindoni scored eight points for Canandaigua (4-11), followed by Janae Guy with seven and Dakotah Savitcheff with six.

Brockport 70,
Greece Arcadia 56

The Brockport girls basketball team defeated Greece Arcadia on Friday to run its season record to 6-10.
Jessica Blocker tallied 22 points and 23 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils. Megan Lester scored 16 points, Ryann Sullivan had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Danielle Lehman added 10 points.
Jolanta Davis had 11 points to lead Greece Arcadia (5-11). Jeanella Hughes chipped in 10 points.

Webster Thomas 42,
Victor 35

Kara Houppert finished with 13 points to lead Webster Thomas to a 42-35 win over Victor.
Allison Muth chipped in 10 points to help the Titans improve to 10-5 on the season.
For Victor, Fran Valenti led the way with 12 points while Alexis Hutto added eight.

Gates Chili 72,
Greece Athena 51

Gates Chili improved to 14-1 with a win over Greece Athena on Friday.
Cierra Dillard recorded a game-high 27 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Spartans. Kori Bayne-Walker had 18 points and seven assists, Shanell Glover scored 13 points and Diona Johnson had 10.
Christina Leonardo led Greece Athena (11-4) with nine points, followed by Shannon Kirkpatrick with eight and Dana Cohan with seven.

Pittsford Sutherland 50,
HF-L 46

The Pittsford Sutherland girls basketball team defeated HF-L on Friday to improve to 10-5.
Sophomore Liz Greendyke had 18 points and five rebounds to lead the Knights. Freshman Santita Ebangwese recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds and Audrey Jackson finished with eight points.
Nicole Davis tallied 14 points to lead the way for HF-L (10-6) while Kelsey Hurley chipped in 12 points.

Penfield 62,
Rush-Henrietta 27

The Penfield girls basketball team, ranked No. 5 in the state in Class AA, defeated Rush-Henrietta on Friday to improve to 15-0.
Lucy Covley finished with a career-high 17 points to lead the Patriots. Margot Hetzke had 15 points and Megan Malloy added nine points and eight assists.
Emily Nestler scored nine points to lead Rush-Henrietta (10-5). Dana Watts added seven points.

Spencerport 49,
Greece Olympia 28

The Spencerport girls basketball team improved to 5-11 with a win over Greece Olympia.
Emily Leone scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Rangers, while Catie Broderick had 12.
Katherine Erbelding filled up the stat sheet for Greece Olympia as she finished with 12 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and five blocked shots. Kim Chung added nine points.

Pittsford Mendon 69,
Churchville-Chili 40

Pittsford Mendon ran its season record to 12-3 with a win over Pittsford Mendon.
Paige Hill amassed 17 points, seven assists and six steals to lead the Vikings. Lauren D'Hond had 19 points and six rebounds, while Courtney Case, Kelsey Julien, Belle Leon, Kristen Powers and Abby Williams all had six points.
For Churchville-Chili, Brooke Ennis scored eight points followed by Tasia Ortiz with seven.

Brighton 56,
Greece Odyssey 40

Annie DiPasquale totaled 14 points to lead Brighton to a win over Greece Odyssey.
Kiera Lorenzo scored 13 points and Amanada Poon added 12 as the Barons ran their season record to 4-11.
Karissa Birthwright finished with a game-high 17 points to lead Greece Odyssey (6-9). Taylor Burns added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Batavia 58,
Eastridge 53

The Batavia girls basketball team got a win over Eastridge to improve to 12-5 on the season.
Tiara Filbert collected 15 points and seven assists to lead the Blue Devils. Lisa Redband had 13 points and seven rebounds, Madison McCulley added 11 points and Macey McCulley chipped in nine points.
Emily Piacentini tallied a game-high 20 points for Eastridge, followed by Rachel Campbell with 10.

ROCHESTER CITY

Wilson 43,
Franklin 19

Wilson defeated Franklin on Friday to improve to 11-4 on the season.
Shiy Goins led the Wildcats with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Mykeisha Crawford added 11 points.
Terra Clanton scored a game-high 15 points to lead Franklin.

School of the Arts 45,
Marshall 28

Caneia Titus led School of the Arts with 18 points and seven rebounds in a win over Marshall.
Tamia Jones added 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the Silverhawks improve to 5-10 on the season.
Dajah Wilson scored eight points for Marshall (5-9), followed by Tynesha Scott with seven.

GENESEE REGION

Elba 50,
Batavia Notre Dame 35

The Elba girls basketball team defeated Batavia Notre Dame on Friday in a match up of the two top teams in the Genesee League.
Trailing 20-15 at halftime, the Lancers outscored the Irish 35-15 in the second half to earn the comeback.
Meg Stucko led Elba with 18 points. Kelsey Bezon and McKenzie Bezon each added 11 points, including three 3-pointers each.
Melanie Taylor amassed 11 points to lead Batavia Notre Dame (13-3).
Elba improves to 15-0 and is ranked No. 2 in the state in Class D in the most recent poll. Batavia Notre Dame came in ranked No. 18 in the state in Class D.

Oakfield-Alabama 52,
Pembroke 33

Oakfield-Alabama ran its season record to 9-6 with a victory over Pembroke.
Sarah McCracken got it done on both ends of the floor for Oakfield-Alabama as she finished with 20 points and five steals. Haylee Glor had seven points and 10 rebounds and Hannah Dunlap added two points, 10 rebounds and four steals.
Breanna Johnson paced Pembroke (9-6) with 10 points while April McMillon finished with seven.

Byron-Bergen 49,
Holley 39

The Byron-Bergen girls basketball team defeated visiting Holley on Friday night to improve to 11-4, 10-2 in league play.
Rachel Winter collected 18 points to lead Byron-Bergen, including eight in the first quarter. Kiersten Richenberg had 13 points and Courtney Amesbury added eight.

The Perry girls basketball team improved to 12-3 with a victory over Letchworth on Friday.
Kaleigh Cicero paced the Yellowjackets with 16 points, including 10 in the second quarter. Kelly Zanghi finished with 11 points and Danielle Kwiecien chipped in 10.
Letchworth (3-11) was led by Tori Greenaker with nine points while Morgan Shearing with six points.

Le Roy 50,
Cal-Mum 46

The Le Roy girls basketball team moved to 5-10 on the season with a victory over Le Roy.
Brooke Bower led Le Roy with 13 points and eight rebounds. Kari Piazza had 12 points and Montana Vescovi added 11.
Emily Phillips paced Cal-Mum (5-10) with 18 points. Maddi Flint added 13 points and Hannah Anderson chipped in eight.

Keshequa 53,
Geneseo 31

Keshequa got a win over Geneseo in girls basketball to improve to 11-4 on the season.
Hannah Acciari scored 13 points for Keshequa to lead a balanced attack. Alex Flint had 10 points, Lindsay Piraino added nine and Gabrielle DiAngelo and Shannon Gordinier both chipped in eight.

PRIVATE-PAROCHIAL

Bishop Kearney 56,
Lima Christian 32

The Bishop Kearney girls basketball team defeated Lima Christian to improve to 11-5.
Kharysma Bryant and Payton Jackson both recorded nine points to lead the Kings. Karley Fanning, Skyler Gausney-Jones and Lauren Kelly each chipped in eight points.
Alexis Maiorano paced Lima Christian (4-10) with a game-high 16 points, while Jessie Johnston added nine points.

NON-LEAGUE

Wellsville 54,
Livonia 48

Brittany Messler scored 19 points to lead Wellsville to a victory over Livonia on Friday night, moving the Lions to 13-2 on the season.
Allie Whitehouse added 17 points and Jordan Pearson chipped in 10.
Cassie Pope totaled 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Livonia (6-8). Molly Stewart added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Bulldogs.

Irondequoit 97,
Greece 79

The Irondequoit boys swimming and diving team defeated Greece on Thursday, 97-79.
Britt Kaukeinen placed first in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM to lead the Eagles. James Wilczewski (diving), Adam Kirchgessner (100 butterfly) and Eric Tuttle (200 freestyle) were single event winners.
Jared Cappon finished first in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle to lead Greece. Connor Litzenberger finished first in the 500 freestyle and Evan Harrison placed first in the 100 breaststroke.
