Monroe County Sheriff's Office tells News 10NBC, Jail Deputy Mike Yanus is charged with misdemeanor D.W.I.
Sheriff's officials say Yanus was driving northbound on Panorama Trail near Rossbrook Drive in Penfield on August 8 at 12:40 a.m. when he hit the shoulder, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into some trees. We're told a female passenger was also in the car.
The Sheriff's Office is conducting an internal investigation. Yanus was given an appearance ticket and is scheduled to be in court September 15.
News 10NBC has confirmed that Yanus' brother Mark, also a Sheriff's Deputy was killed by a drunk driver in the Caribbean in 1999.
