Canandaigua man charged after alleged stabbing attempt

A Canandaigua man was charged Oct. 6 after allegedly attempting to stab a 23-year-old man with a knife while he was sitting in a car in the Dollar General parking lot on West Avenue, said Canandaigua city police.

According to police, Carlos M. Ortiz-Rivera, 33, of 64 Bristol Street was charged with second-degree attempted assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The alleged victim was uninjured, police said.

Ortiz-Rivera was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court and sent to the Ontario County Jail without bail.
