Victor Republicans chose Thomas “Toby” Reh as their candidate for Town Justice during Thursday’s primary election. Unofficial tallies show that Reh beat Michael A. Jones, Jr., by a vote of 322 to 47.

Likewise Conservative party members also chose Reh over Jones as their candidate for Town Justice with a vote of 11 to 1. Reh was the choice of Independence party members who gave him 18 to Jones’ vote of 3.

“I'm grateful for the results tonight,” said Reh. “ I'm even more grateful for the support and sacrifice of my family, friends, and all those who have worked so hard on my campaign.  I look forward to continuing our efforts as we head towards the general election.”

Jones ran on his experience as Victor Town Attorney, his expertise in the courtroom, his involvement in the community, and his focus on the needs of young people, individuals and families in crisis.

Reh ran on his experience as assistant district attorney, his sense of morality, ethics and justice, and his devotion to and involvement in the community.

Going into the primary Reh was the endorsed candidate of the Victor Republican Committee and the Ontario County Conservative Party.

In Hopewell, voters elected Matthew B. Goodman to finish a term on Town Board that ends Dec. 31, 2015. Goodman beat John L. Stoddard by a vote of 44 to 42.

Both candidates were new to running for elected office.

Stoddard ran on his experience as a town Planning Board member for 10 years and his long involvement with community organizations such as Hopewell Historical Society and Rotary Club. Goodman ran on his business experience, helping run his family's farm and managing an apartment building.

In the Conservative Party primary twelve state committee members were elected in the 27th Congressional District, which  is made up of the City of Canandaigua and the towns of Canandaigua, Farmington, Victor, East Bloomfield, West Bloomfield, Bristol, South Bristol, Canadice, Richmond and Election District 2 in the Town of Naples.

All other primary elections in Ontario County were uncontested.
