AT&T has opened a new 3,000 square-foot retail location in Victor to serve the growing number of customers using and shopping for smartphones, tablets, connected devices and advanced wireless products and services. On Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. local officials will receive a tour of the new store, located at 425 Commerce Drive, and learn about AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign, focused on educating the public — especially teens — on the dangers of texting and driving.
"AT&T's investment in Victor benefits both consumers and local businesses, and helps to create local employment opportunities," said State Assemblyman Sean Hanna. "This is great news for the economic development of the region and for our citizens who depend on their wireless devices. AT&T's ‘It can Wait’ campaign shows its commitment to educating the public, especially our youth, not to text and drive."
Jack Marren, Victor town supervisor added, "These issues are important to our community and AT&T's new high-tech location is the perfect place to affirm my personal commitment not to text and drive. I encourage the citizens of Victor to take the pledge and check out the new store which benefits residents, local businesses and is great news for the economic development of the region."
The store's interactive layout enables customers to easily try out the lastest 4G smartphones and tablets. The trained staff can also provide technical assistance and show shoppers wireless apps such as AT&T Navigator and DriveMode. As part of the “It Can Wait initiative, AT&T's Drive Mode mobile application, when downloaded and activated, automatically sends a customizable reply to incoming texts which- notifies the sender that the user is driving and unable to respond. The auto-response is similar to an "out-of-office" email alert.
"Our store employees have also taken the pledge and are committed to educating customers on the dangers of texting and driving," said Matt Deknatel, AT&T store manager. "We look forward to helping local consumers and businesses make the right wireless choices and will work hard to also deliver a top-notch sales experience."
Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Victor location compliments seven AT&T Rochester company-owned stores and more than 40 across western and Upstate New York.
