Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies said an accident on Route 332 in Canandaigua Monday morning was caused by a Rochester man following too closely behind another vehicle driven by a Farmington woman.
Ticketed with following too close and being an unlicensed operator was Jaquan D. Hawkins, 21, of 20 Ritz St., Rochester.
Deputies said Barbara A. Smith, 68, of 85 Gannett Road, Farmington, was going south on Route 332, approaching the intersection with North St., when Hawkins, also going south, struck her vehicle from the rear.
Smith complained of left shoulder pain and was taken to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for treatment. Hawkins was not injured.
Deputies said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
