In a letter to parents Victor Central School Superintendent Dawn Santiago-Marullo said "the cause of widespread gastrointestinal illnesses experienced by students during the week of May 3 appears to be Noro-virus."

'Hit train' powers Victor softball to win over Webster Thomas

A 30-minute rain delay ended up helping the Victor softball team on Wednesday. The Blue Devils trailed before the delay, but scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to earn an 11-2 win over Webster Thomas.

Victor senior Lacey Clark said the team used the break to re-focus. All nine Blue Devils came to the plate during both of the big innings, as they came back from a 2-1 deficit.

“We call it our hit train,” said Clark, who is committed to play for Hofstra University next year. “When we do that we play our best because we work together.”

'Embracing Emerson' event will benefit children's hospital

Becky and Jason Black are planning a day of family fun to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital on Saturday, May 18. The event, in memory of their infant son Emerson Black, is called “Embracing Emerson,” and is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Red Jacket High School on Route 21 in Shortsville.

But until U.S. Immigration Services gives a nod, Mpaka and Irene Kamara will have to play the waiting game. Mpaka’s four recently orphaned nephews and one niece await a green light from their rented living space in Mwanda, Congo.

Farmington Summer Rec registration set for May
