Starting this fall, Victor residents will take a full year to celebrate their town’s 200th birthday. A series of festivals, concerts, tours, historic reenactments, and even a parade are planned throughout 2012 and 2013.

The Grand Bicentennial Parade, which kicks off the celebration of the Town’s bicentennial, will start at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Grand marshal “Walter Boughton” and “Lois Smith Boughton Bumpus” (also representing the original pioneer family), will lead off the procession which begins on East Street.

Samantha Parisi, great-granddaughter of Walter Boughton, and Town Historian Babette Huber and grandsons Christian and Blaise Maltman, will carry the official bicentennial parade banner. The Victor High School Marching Band will follow, along with six floats, twenty-five walking units, fire trucks, unicycles and several vintage cars. Children will dance, alpacas will strut, unicycles will be sway, and flags will fly in a true community effort spotlighting the organizations, businesses, churches and people who are part of Victor today.

The parade route will include East Ave., Maple Ave., a portion of Main St., and School St., and will end at the town barns on Rawson Road. Staging will be done at St. Patrick’s Church on Maple Ave. at 2 p.m. Parking will be available at Fireman’s Field or at the Town Barns on Rawson Road. No parking, other than officially handicapped, will be available at St. Patrick’s Church.
