Barktober Fest 2012 Presented by Pet$aver Healthy Pet Superstore brought in more than $110,000 through registrations for the 5-mile race and walk for the animals, participants gathering pledges, corporate sponsorships, and festival activities — all to support the animals at Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester.

“While we weren’t able to meet our goal for the event,” said Alice Calabrese, CAWA, Lollypop Farm president and CEO, “we are truly grateful for the generous support from those who participated in and donated to the event. Because Lollypop Farm receives no government or other agency support, we rely on our compassionate community and these funds will go directly towards caring for the pets at the shelter.”

Winners in the 5-mile race were Karen Blodgett of Fairport as the overall race winner and top women’s runner with a time of 30:06, and Michael Welden of Rochester as the top men’s runner with a time of 30:27.  Full race results are available at www.yellowjacketracing.com/2012.

Lollypop Farm also recognized the efforts of top fundraising Tail Waggin’ Team CNB Dog Pound, composed of over 20 people from Canandaigua National Bank. Together they raised $6,372.

People in the community can still support the daily operations of the shelter by participating in upcoming events and making a donation of support online at www.lollypop.org, by calling
(585) 223-1330, or by mail to 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450. All proceeds directly benefit homeless and abused animals.
