Families were out in full force at Mertensia Park in Farmington last Friday night as the town’s Recreation Department hosted its fall open house and Halloween party. Inside and out, the Lodge at Mertensia was buzzing with excited, costumed children, parents and grandparents, sipping apple cider and munching on donuts, Halloween candy and caramel apples. Craft projects gave children creative channel for their extra “sugar” energy, and parents swapped stories and some even joined in, creating their own masterpieces. Entries from the town clerk’s coloring contest were on display, and prizes were awarded in various categories.
