Three event highlights
1 There will be 40 quality antique dealers displaying and selling antiques at the Canandaigua Classic Antique Show and Sale in the modern Finger Lakes racetrack clubhouse in Farmington. Wares include country and period furniture, clocks, lamps and lighting fixtures, jewelry, postcards, paintings and books, linens, and all kinds of antique accessories.
2 Attendees can prove their antique mettle by identifying an object from the Carriage Museum’s collection. The winner, selected randomly from the correct entries, receives the choice of a free 10-minute horse-drawn sleigh (or carriage) ride for two people.
3 In the afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. anyone can bring in a favorite antique or collectible to consult local antiques expert, H. Price Prazar, who will provide a verbal appraisal. Prazar, a Rochester area professional antiques appraiser and teacher, will examine antiques and collectibles for $5.00. The suggested limit is four items per person. Books are two for $5.00. A portion of each appraisal supports the show. Printed numbers for appraisals will be available in the appraisal area earlier in the day. Seating will be provided and so participants can observe.
Why you should attend
This is the third year that the Carriage Committee of the Granger Homestead and the Canandaigua Classic Antique Show committee have collaborated. Show proceeds have funded the installation of a wood floor in the Pole Barn floor, one of three barns that house nearly 100 carriages, sleighs and other horse drawn vehicles, with over 70 vehicles on display. Further upgrades to the barn are planned. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Plenty of free parking is available.
