On Tuesday, May 17, Victor School District residents will have a chance to weigh in on a $56 million school spending plan and a bus proposition — and choose two new school board members from three candidates.
The proposed budget would boost spending by about $1 million over the current year. If passed, the property tax levy, or the amount to be raised by taxes, would also increase by $740,831 to $35 million. But, district officials said property tax rates would stay flat at $16.33 per $1,000 assessed valuation.
Two school board seats are open with the expiration of the terms for Steve Martin and Bob Rose. Both said they will not be seeking re-election. Three challengers, Kiersten Kunick, Deborah R. Palumbo-Sanders and Trisha Turner will vie for the open seats.

Quote from supervisor - “Unlike other local school districts, we have the unique opportunity of being part of thriving communities with plans for additional housing developments. Those new homes continue to bring us additional students. We expect to have 80 new students in grades K-12 in September 2011. Balancing this population growth with reduced state aid has brought its challenges.”
