The Victor Board of Education has adopted a budget for the 2012-2013 school year.

The budget proposed is $56,474,080. That’s a .76 percent increase from last year’s budget.

Reductions include decreases in the number of classrooms and certified professionals in the school.

The budget asks for a 2.84 percent tax levy increase. That’s below Victor’s tax levy limit of 4.85 percent, meaning the budget will require a simple majority to pass. School districts proposing tax levy increases over their tax levy limit require 60 percent voter approval.

Despite the tax levy increase, the projected tax rate will decrease, say school officials.

The community will vote on the budget on May 15.
