Chef Michael Speranza was one of 18 chefs recently awarded a Chefs Move to Schools grant from the American Culinary Federation.
Speranza is partnered with the Victor Central School District and visits schools in the district twice a month to conduct classroom demonstrations and discussions about healthy food. The funds will be used to purchase supplies for his classroom-based activities.
To date, ACF has awarded 30 grants, a total of $7,500, to support chef volunteers and schools promoting healthy eating to kids. This is the second grant cycle for the ACF’s Chefs Move to Schools grant. The application for the last grant cycle is due Dec. 30.
Chefs are allowed to apply for all three grant cycles, and have the opportunity to receive up to $750 in grant funds for their Chefs Move to Schools projects.
