Karli Fosco is a 10-year-old fifth-grader who lives with her mom and dad, Cher and Greg; her 12-year-old sister, Brenna; and her grandparents.
What activity or project have you tackled that has been the most challenging and rewarding? I would have to say winning the T-shirt drawing contest for the Jungle Jog held at the zoo.
How did you get involved with that project? Mrs. Kirchhoff, one of my fourth-grade teachers, announced it one day and so I decided to enter my Amur tiger drawing.
What makes it rewarding? My drawing was on all the runners’ T-shirts. I received T-shirts for me and my family, a tiger water bottle, and a gift certificate for the zoo shop. Also, my mom and I rode in the pace car for the race.
Who has most inspired you to be the person you are today? My mother and grampa inspire me.
How do you balance all your time commitments? By being responsible, and I work hard at all the activities I do.
If you could choose any career in the world, what would you be? I would be either an artist or a professional dancer.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Paris, France or New York City because they both sound like wonderful places.
What’s on your iPod? A few of my favorite songs are “Beautiful Monster” by Ne-Yo, which is my most favorite song; “California Girls” by Katy Perry, and “Can’t Be Tamed” by Miley Cyrus. My favorite artist is Jason Derulo.
What do you do for fun? I enjoy playing outside with my friends, swimming, dancing, reading, and playing piano and trumpet.
What’s your favorite food? Pasta and chicken are my favorite foods.
What’s your best advice for other students your age? Always be polite and respectful and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.
