What activity or project has been the most challenging and rewarding?
Definitely developing my voice and becoming more involved with music.
How did you get involved with that project?
I've always grown up in a musical family. I remember going to see plays or musicals that my cousins were in and I wanted to be just like them. I started taking voice lessons the summer before my freshman year and I've just been growing from there.
What makes it rewarding?
At first, I was very shy. I didn't think anyone wanted to hear my voice, I just loved the way it felt. It was so rewarding to have such a free feeling when I sang. As I've gotten older, not only has it given me the most incredible joy, but it has taught me so much about myself. I've learned to push myself and try new things, not only with my voice, but with myself as well.
Who has most inspired you to be the person you are today?
My entire family, and my music teachers — specifically my mom. She has always been my best friend and I love having such a close relationship with her. She always inspires me to do the right thing and follow my heart. Also, my voice teacher, Mrs. Dupra, has been such an inspiration in my life. She has taught me so much about myself, probably more than she will ever know. She is so talented and constantly inspires me to be the best I can be.
How do you balance all your time commitments?
I basically wake up, go to school, and just keep moving. Tuesdays I have voice lessons after school for an hour. After, in the fall, I go to tennis practice. In winter, I go to musical rehearsals then I go to work. I get home, do some homework, and then some nights I go sing at games. Then I go home and finish homework. On weekends I usually spend time with my family and friends and work. My friends and family help me balance everything. I'm so blessed to be surrounded by such awesome people who keep me laughing all the way through.
What do you could choose any career in the world, what would you be?
I would love to be an actress on Broadway or a teacher.
