Logan Everhart is 18 years old and in the 12th grade at Victor Central. His dad is Darren; his mom is Jen-nifer. He has two sisters, Kiah, 20, and Abigail, 15.
What activity or project have you tackled that has been the most challenging and rewarding? The activity that is the most rewarding for me is marching band.
How did you get involved with that project? My older sister Kiah was in it two years before me. Plus my uncle Eric Everhart is the director.
What makes it rewarding? The level of competition. We have eight regular season competitions at various schools around the area like Webster, Eastridge, Oswego, and Cicero-North Syracuse. Then we have the State Finals at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, as well as an Eastern Regional at Navy Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.
I mostly get the feeling of great accomplishment from knowing that you are the very best at something. No one can take that away. I get choked up just talking about it. Field band affects me in ways that are hard to express. The anticipation as you wait on the sidelines before you perform, and the anticipation as you wait for the scores to be announced. The heart and soul of everyone contributing, and the pride and confidence that comes from being a part of the Victor Marching Blue Devils. What also makes it rewarding are the friends I have made. I have made more memories in the past six years than I could have ever imagined.
Who has most inspired you to be the person you are today? Both my dad and my uncle have influenced me the most to become the man I am today. Mostly through music, through the art of touching people with music. Music has been my life. I certainly enjoy sports, such as basketball and track, and I am honored to be the class president, but music has always been there for me. One of my favorite songs is "The Promise of Living" by Aaron Copland. It has helped me realize how much I truly have.
How do you balance all your time commitments? During the field band season I don't play a sport, so I have a few hours before practice to finish homework. I do the same thing during basketball and track season. I try to take advantage of my free time to work on my studies.

What do you could choose any career in the world, what would you be? I would be a professional musician. I love to perform for people. I would also like to get into music therapy.
What’s on your iPod? A wide variety. I don't have a favorite kind of music. If it clicks for me, I listen to it. From "Up and Away" by Kid Cudi, to "Summertime" by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. From "El Salon Mexico" by Aaron Copland, to "Grey Street" by The Dave Matthews Band.
What do you do for fun? Play my trumpet, basketball, hang with friends, draw, bike and play paintball.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Ireland, because it is a beautiful place and the history and music is interesting to me.
What’s your favorite food?
Tough question. I'm 6'6" tall and I weigh 260 pounds, so I like most foods. But my favorite would probably be an apple or a cheeseburger of some sort.
What's your best advice for other students your age?
I don't use this quote very much, but it's my favorite. It was said by Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninov. It goes, “Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.”
Go out there and be yourselves! Our generation can change the world only if we work together. Just make sure you keep music in your life, because you never know when it will help you through a difficult time.
