Alayna Murphy is 14 years old, in the ninth grade, and lives with her mom and dad, Melissa and Joe, and her awesome dog, Max.
What activity or project have you tackled that has been the most challenging and rewarding? Completing the Girl Scout Silver Award at Maggie's Kids day camp with support from my troop, family, and friends.
How did you get involved with that project? My troop and I thought helping other children would be fun way to earn our Silver Award.
What makes it rewarding? The most rewarding thing is seeing the smiles on people’s face when the work is done; and making new friends.
Who has most inspired you to be the person you are today? My father has most inspired me, because of all his achievements and help throughout the community.
How do you balance all your time commitments? I try not to overbook things and ask family for help if I need it.
What do you could choose any career in the world, what would you be? I would be like to become a biologist or a zoologist, something that helps the endangered species, really.
What’s on your iPod? I have Katy Perry, the Plain White T's and 3 Doors Down.
What do you do for fun? I play in the Victor Marching Band and hang out with my friends.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would go to Russia. I was lucky this summer to meet two Russian girls and learn about their country and traditions.
What’s your favorite food? My favorite food is cheese manicotti.
What's your best advice for other students your age? Live life to the fullest and enjoy anything you've got.
