Francesca Valenti is 12 years old, in the 7th Grade, and lives with her parents, Frank and Kathy, and her brothers Frankie, 20, Phil, 16, and Nick, 14, and her sister Alexandra, 18

What activity or project have you tackled that has been the most challenging and rewarding? Trying out for and making the JV soccer team; traveling to Syracuse with my brother to play basketball with 10th - 12th grade boys and being able to keep up with them

How did you get involved with sports? I have played soccer since I was 4 years old, and my brother plays AAU basketball out of Syracuse; his coach recommended that I come after watching me play against my siblings in our driveway

What makes it rewarding? I practice really hard so when my team wins games I feel like I have contributed

Who has most inspired you to be the person you are today? My parents

How do you balance all your time commitments? I make sure my schoolwork is done before I go to any extra sporting activities or workouts

What do you could choose any career in the world, what would you be? Pediatrician

What’s on your iPod? Hip-Hop/Rap

What do you do for fun? Go tubing on my grandparents boat, swim, hang out with friends

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? Italy

What’s your favorite food? Toasted peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich

What's your best advice for other students your age? Do good in school, work hard at what you love
